The Dental Read is a concise weekly briefing covering the news, regulation, business and industry developments that matter to UK dentists.
I'm a practicing dentist in the UK, and for years I found keeping up with dental news far more difficult than it should have been.
The information was there but it was everywhere. Important updates could be buried in regulatory announcements, lengthy reports, professional websites, trade publications, social media posts and endless emails. Separating what genuinely mattered from everything else often meant opening multiple tabs, reading through long documents and trying to work out whether an update would actually affect me, my colleagues or the way we practice.
And like most dentists, I didn't exactly have hours to spare. Between patients, clinical notes, admin and everything else that comes with working in dentistry, staying properly informed could easily become another job in itself.
What frustrated me most was that some of the most important developments were often surrounded by noise. A major regulatory change could sit alongside dozens of stories that had very little impact on day-to-day practice. Sometimes the headline sounded important but lacked context. Other times, genuinely significant information was easy to miss completely.
The Dental Read was created to make staying informed simpler.
Once a week, I bring together the developments I believe UK dentists and dental professionals should know about and present them in one concise, 5-minute read briefing.
That might include changes affecting NHS or private dentistry, GDC and regulatory developments, practice and business news, workforce issues, technology, clinical developments, acquisitions, policy changes and wider trends shaping the profession.
The aim isn't to cover everything happening in dentistry. It's to filter through it and focus on what is actually worth your time.

The goal is simple: when you finish an issue, you should feel caught up not overwhelmed.
